The live show is returning to New South Wales and Canberra in January 2025, following a global tour across Australia, UK, Ireland, Singapore and North America, where audiences young and old fell in love all over again with our favourite family of Blue Heelers.
Bluey’s Big Play, a theatrical adaptation of the BAFTA & Emmy® award-winning children’s television series produced by Ludo Studio, is coming back to Australia in 2025 and will open at the Theatre Royal, Sydney on Thursday 2 January before moving onto Canberra and Newcastle.

Audiences of all ages will get to see Bluey, Bingo, Bandit and Chilli, as they’ve never seen them before, as the Heeler family embark on this unique live show featuring brilliantly created puppets and iconic sets.

Bluey’s Big Play The Stage Show is directed by Rosemary Myers of Windmill Theatre Company, and is presented by BBC Studios and Andrew Kay in association with Windmill Theatre Co.

The stage show enjoyed success in Australia, where it premiered in Bluey’s hometown of Brisbane and went on to perform 447 times across 65 venues, including the Sydney Opera House. Bluey’s Big Play The Stage Show has since travelled across the world. It has toured across the United States and Canada where it has been performed over 600 times in venues such as the Hulu Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York, the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and the iconic Kennedy Centre Eisenhower Theatre in Washington. It went on to play across the UK and Ireland where it premiered at the iconic Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in London and was also nominated for a prestigious 2024 Olivier Award in the Best Family Show category earlier this year. In June 2024, Bluey’s Big Play made its premiere in Asia, opening in Singapore at the Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands. It will premiere in Europe across Spain from 21 September 2024 and Paris from 21 December 2024 as well as in the Middle East at the Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi from 30 August 2024.
Since bursting on to TV screens in Australia in 2018, Bluey has enjoyed a plethora of critical success at home and abroad, most recently winning Best Children’s Program at the 2024 TV WEEK Logie Awards. Bluey has also won a 2022 BAFTA Children & Young People Award in the International category and picked up its consecutive fifth AACTA Best Children’s Programme award to add to an International Emmy. Additionally, it has won APRA screen music awards, ARIA music awards, Australian Directors Guild Award and more.
Last year, Bluey was the #1 series for preschoolers and kids and #2 most-streamed series across all audiences in the U.S. with 43.9 billion minutes viewed*. In Australia, Bluey airs on ABC where it is #1 children’s show and is also rated #1 show on CBeebies and Disney+ in the UK. *Source: Nielsen
